About CAMRA

There will be no Sussex Branches Beer & Cider Festival in 2020; hopefully back in 2021!.

What is CAMRA? The Campaign For Real Ale is for people like you and me, people who care about choice: choice between lager and real ale, choice between the traditional and the modern, choice between multi-national breweries and small, independent family brewer.

Why not read more about CAMRA on the national website, or join up and become part of an organisation with tens of thousands of members that can, and has, made a real difference?

And remember, only CAMRA members can volunteer to help out at the Sussex Beer & Cider Festival!

CAMRA is an independent, voluntary organisation with a mission to act as consumer champion in relation to the UK and European beer and drinks industry. It aims to:

  • Maintain consumer rights
  • Promote quality, choice and value for money
  • Support the public house as a focus of community life
  • Campaign for greater appreciation of traditional beers, ciders and perries as part of national heritage and culture
  • Seek improvements in all licensed premises and throughout the brewing industry
  • CAMRA also seeks to promote real cider and perry through a sub-organisation called APPLE. Like ale, these are traditional British drinks and like ale, the traditional product is very different from the 'dead' version.
